I (Frankie) have learned the hard way how important it is to set goals, and not only to set goals, but to set huge, lofty goals. I know this probably runs contrary to what you've been taught. Let's be honest. Most of us were taught to set "obtainable goals". We were taught to have goals, but make sure it's something you know you can achieve. I call bullshit on that one. I did that all my life and I've been achieving ordinary things. Only when I started setting what most would think were unobtainable goals, did I really start seeing success in my life.
I smoked for 31 years. Most everyone said I would never be able to stop. I set a seemingly unattainable goal to stop and in 2 days, I'll have been a non-smoker for a year. I've set another goal that most are telling me is unobtainable. I am working on getting into good enough shape to compete in a Beach Body contest. I'm 46 years old and I've had 4 babies. Everyone says it's not a realistic goal. Guess what, I've set that goal for myself anyway.
I may set goals that I'll never completely reach, but I'll be a lot closer to something "unattainable" if I set my goals high. I'll never do extraordinary things if I keep setting ordinary goals. So, I'll be going for the gold.
Frankie and Andrea take turns sharing stories. Just good talk over a cup of coffee.
