It’s funny how sometimes Frankie and I can be so in sync with each other even though we’re hundreds of miles apart. When we write our blogs, we write them separately, squeezing them into our schedules when we can. Very rarely do we know what the other one has written until we read them, along with all of you, when they’re posted.
Yesterday she wrote about doing something for yourself every day. We must really be needing some comfort and treats, because today I’m going to talk about indulging yourself.
When you’re working hard, you tend to just become a machine to what’s going on around you. Work controls your actions. School controls your actions. Family controls your actions. There is nothing for you. I remember the times, years ago, when I’d get my nails done every couple of weeks. Just because I wanted it. That ship has sailed, but I still have indulgences.
As you know, I’m a Starbucks geek. But even moreso, I’m a coffee geek. I love coffee. All the time. Every day. It is my big indulgence. I buy huge bags of Starbucks beans. And my hubby and son bought me the coolest gift ever - my Ninja Coffee bar. GEEEEEEEK! I love it. Totally. It makes me happy.
No, this isn’t an advertisement for Starbucks or Ninja, though I love them both. It’s about having an indulgence where you dive in, enjoy it, celebrate it, and make yourself happy.
You deserve it. And you need it. Because you’ve got to keep your mental state in check, and if a little indulgence like a cup of coffee, or maybe some Godiva chocolates is what’s going to let you know that you’re worth it, that you’re great and you deserve it - so be it. Indulge!
Frankie and Andrea take turns sharing stories. Just good talk over a cup of coffee.
