Last night I found myself having no patience. I mean, zero. We all say “I'm running out of patience!” But we all have a little left in the tank to push us through.
But last night, I was empty. I was burned out and I told my husband, “I have no patience left!” I spent Friday on the phone, waiting and waiting for help regarding a tax problem. I spent the weekend waiting in grocery store lines. (You would have thought it was Christmas Eve!). And I spent yesterday waiting for software to load, waiting for technology to work, waiting for...everything.
And I. Was. Done.
And honestly, I'm never done. When everyone else is up in arms, I'm the one that says “let's give it a little more time.”
But I was done. Or, at least I felt like I was done. But I wasn't. I was burned out and frustrated, but I hadn't gone empty on patience.
You need a lot of patience for everything. You especially need it when you run your own business. Not only are you working hard and doing all of your family things, you're also working hard for your personal and business well-being. You are waiting and waiting and waiting on everyone. You wait on the phone for customer service or wait for the check out line, the traffic, the kids to bring down their dirty laundry, the commercials to be over, the light to turn green, the nurse to call you I for your appointment, the customer to pay, the client to call…
And you think you're tapped out and done.
But you aren't. There's always more patience. I know this, because I'm writing this blog from a laundromat while I wait for my comforter to dry. :)
