How often do you go home for a visit? If you're anything like me, it's not near enough. And that's not good for anyone involved.
I know some people have family issue or circumstances that make it difficult or even impossible to go home for a visit. If that's you, then this tip isn't for you. But if that's not you, and you're not going home regularly just to visit with parents, siblings, etc…then this tip is for you.
I get it. We're all busy. Life happens and you just get caught up in it. I work from home so you'd think I wouldn't use the "I just don't have time excuse", but I do. My parents and sister and her family live two hours from me. I work all week and on the weekends I either travel an hour and a half to see my kids and grand ones, or I just want to stay home and do stuff; because I really do have lots of stuff to do.
But, my daughter recently suggested we drive up to see my parents and my sister and her family. We did it on a Sunday and even though I dreaded the drive up and back, and I had a ton of stuff to do at home, it was totally worth it. Just seeing everyone and spending some time together seemed to get me back on track with things. It gave me a sense of peace that I've been missing and didn't even realize it until it came back in that Sunday visit that I didn't have time to take.
So, my #tipoftheday is just this: Go Home! Sometimes that's the only place you can find peace among all the chaos.
