"Good help is hard to find", I (Frankie) have heard that saying all my life and never really understood it until the last couple of years, in particular, the last couple of months.
At the beginning of January my family needed some help. It should have been help that was easy to find and easy to access, but it was far from either of those things. I left tons of voice messages that I never got a return call from. I sent hundreds of emails that I never got a reply to. I filled out forms and talked with people on the phone and through chat and still, nothing. Family members were making calls during this time also and they weren't having much more luck than I was.
It's not like we were looking for some obscure service that only a few people offer. It was a very popular service that seemingly thousands of people offered, but when we really needed it, it just wasn’t to be found. Finally, after a couple of weeks of searching, I got in touch with someone by chance who went above and beyond to get the ball rolling. Whew! What a relief. I just can't for the life of me understand why it was so hard.
I needed to tell you guys that to say this, if you offer a service, then please do what's necessary to either allow people to access that service when they need it or, at the very least, get back in touch with them to let them know you can't help and maybe help them find someone that can. It's basic business etiquette and you'd think more people would practice it, especially if they want their business to be successful.
Whether you work from home or for a company that offers a service, just be good help. It's good business, but beyond that, it's just good manners.
